Infrastructure Engineer Database & Cloud Operations, Heavy Materials and Logistics (Remote)

About the Role

You will be responsible for owning the health, performance, and evolution of XBE's production database and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on infrastructure-engineering seat, where you will work on real Postgres administration, data-lifecycle engineering, and cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the production database infrastructure, including Postgres upgrades, roles and permissions, monitoring, backup and restore workflows, partitioning strategy, and performance troubleshooting.
• Design and implement data lifecycle automation, including OLTP-to-OLAP archival, Postgres partition movement, archive schemas, S3/Parquet data-warehouse flows, cron jobs, and long-running background workers.
• Manage cloud infrastructure operations, including Render, AWS/S3, Cloudflare, and the services around them.
• Build and maintain a JSON API for core services on the Ruby on Rails platform, as infrastructure needs evolve.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure that production Postgres stays healthy, fast, and recoverable as data volume grows.
• Design and implement observability stack, including OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Datadog, SigNoz, Better Stack, and pganalyze.

Skills & Qualifications

• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and its administration.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure operations, including Render, AWS/S3, and Cloudflare.
• Proficiency in Linux, systemd, and Bash.
• Strong understanding of data pipelines and data warehousing.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Terraform.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 0-0 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
