Intern, Building Technology Systems

About the Role

The Building Technology Systems Design Intern will support the design and engineering of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Electronic Security Systems (ESS), Audiovisual (AV), and Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, educational, and mixed-use developments.

The intern will work closely with multidisciplinary design teams and gain practical experience in engineering design, BIM coordination, technical documentation, specifications, and construction support services throughout various project stages from concept design to construction administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and documentation of Structured Cabling Systems (Copper & Fiber), Telecommunications Rooms (TER/TR), Data Centers and Server Rooms, LAN/WAN Infrastructure, Wireless Networks (Wi-Fi), and IP Telephony Systems.
• Prepare ICT layouts, riser diagrams, rack elevations, and equipment schedules.
• Support cable pathway planning including conduits, cable trays, trunking, and containment systems.
• Assist in the design of CCTV Surveillance Systems, Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intercom Systems, Visitor Management Systems, and Security Management Systems.
• Prepare security device layouts, schematics, and equipment schedules.
• Support coverage studies and device placement coordination.

Skills & Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Preferred knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems, Computer Networks and Telecommunications, ELV and Security Systems, Audiovisual Technologies, Building Management Systems, Smart Building Technologies, and BIM and Digital Engineering Concepts.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (Preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam or PDF Markup Tools (Preferred).
