About the Role

As a Commie 3rd at Unicorn HR Solutions, you will be responsible for assisting the pastry chef in preparing and baking pastries, cakes, and other baked goods. Your day-to-day tasks will include assisting in the preparation of ingredients, operating bakery equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.

You will work closely with the pastry team to ensure that all products meet the company's high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the pastry chef in preparing and baking pastries, cakes, and other baked goods.
• Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including measuring, mixing, and portioning.
• Help with the presentation of finished products, including decorating and packaging.
• Work effectively as part of a team to meet production deadlines and achieve sales targets.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to improve skills and knowledge in pastry preparation and presentation.

Skills & Qualifications

• Patisserie and baking skills, including cake making and decorating.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail for accurate measurements and portioning.
• Good communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with colleagues.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures in a kitchen environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in culinary arts or related field preferred.
• Food safety certification (e.g. HACCP) an asset.
