About the Role
As an Associate DevOps Engineer at NatWest Group, you'll be part of a feature team responsible for engineering software, scripts, and tools, as well as collaborating with other engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform.
Your day-to-day tasks will involve producing complex and critical software rapidly and of high quality, which adds value to the business, working in permanent teams responsible for the full life cycle, from initial development to replacement or decommissioning.
You'll have the opportunity to hone your existing technical skills and advance your career while building a wide network of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer and maintain innovative, customer-centric, high-performance, secure, and robust solutions.
- Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and business analysts across the platform to optimize software engineering capability.
- Design, produce, test, and implement working software solutions across the life cycle, from requirements analysis and design to testing, deployment, and operations.
- Manage GitLab platform like repos, standards, runners, and optimize pipelines for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Own deployments across dev, test, and production environments, supporting containerized workloads like Docker, ECS/EKS.
- Embed DevSecOps practices across CI/CD and deployments, driving improvements in reliability and system uptime with a focus on operational excellence.
Skills & Qualifications
- Background in software engineering, software design, and architecture.
- Understanding of how your area of expertise supports customers.
- Experience of design and implementation of scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, including branching strategies and automated build/test/deploy workflows.
- AWS Certified Developer.
- Experience of DevOps and Agile methodology and associated toolsets.
- Strong GitLab CI/CD and automation experience.
- Experience of implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualization, optimization, availability, and performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
What You'll Learn
In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience with cloud-based technologies, including AWS and GitLab, and develop a deep understanding of DevOps practices and Agile methodology.
You'll also learn how to design, implement, and optimize scalable CI/CD pipelines, as well as embed DevSecOps practices across CI/CD and deployments.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on complex and critical software projects, developing your problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
