Forward Deployed Engineer Intern

About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer Intern at Lunar, you will be embedded on-site with a manufacturing customer, where you will work on Morsa, an autonomous chief of staff for manufacturing. Your primary responsibility will be to stand up Lunar's agents against the customer's real and messy data, and write the integration, ingest, and evaluation code that makes them work in production.

Day-to-day, you will own the deployment of Lunar's agents at the manufacturing customer, end-to-end, and collaborate with operators and engineers on the floor to turn their feedback into requirements and ship fixes in days.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the deployment of Lunar's agents at a manufacturing customer, end-to-end.
• Build the ingest, retrieval, and integration code that connects our agents to a plant's existing and often legacy systems.
• Write evaluation harnesses that prove an agent is right before anyone relies on it.
• Sit with operators and engineers on the floor, turn what you hear into requirements, and ship fixes in days.
• Carry field signal back to the founders and shape what we build next.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical partners, communicate clearly, and translate operational needs into engineering tasks.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong generalist with the ability to drop into a new layer of the stack, a new domain, or a messy codebase and be productive fast.
• Experience in building and shipping something real, with a portfolio of independent projects, open source, or side work.
• Background in backend systems, data pipelines, applied ML, or agent and harness engineering.
• Comfort working with modern development tools and workflows (version control, CI/CD, issue tracking, and documentation).
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Interest in applied AI, autonomous agents, and bridging the gap between research and production systems.
