About the Role
This role involves working as a software engineer with Confluent, a platform that enables real-time data streaming and event-driven architecture. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications that are scalable, efficient, and reliable.
You will be part of a small team and will work closely with other engineers to collaborate on projects, share knowledge, and provide feedback. This role requires strong communication skills, a self-starter mindset, and a willingness to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop software applications using Java, Go, or similar programming languages.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code to ensure high-quality software products.
- Collaborate with a small team to share knowledge, provide feedback, and work on projects.
- Participate in code reviews and iterate based on feedback to improve code quality.
- Develop a deep understanding of distributed systems, including Kafka, and how they are designed and operated.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software development.
- Contribute to the development of software applications that are scalable, efficient, and reliable.
Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of hands-on software development experience (new grads welcome).
- Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking, and operating systems.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested code in at least one modern language (Java, Go, or similar).
- Curiosity about distributed systems and how large-scale services like Kafka are designed and operated.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate closely with a small team.
- Self-starter mindset and ability to ask questions, seek feedback, and iterate based on code review.
