Java Full stack developer

About the Role

As a Java Full Stack Developer at Barclays, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

Your primary focus will be on building and managing robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using Java and related frameworks and contribute across all phases of the SDLC (requirements → design → build → test → deploy).
• Ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability of applications.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Design APIs, data flows, and system integrations and apply design principles (SOLID, design patterns) and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with product managers, QA, business analysts, and other engineers.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Core Java (Java 8+)
• Spring Boot / Spring Framework (REST APIs, microservices)
• Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and concurrency
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and exposure to Docker, Kubernetes / OpenShift and CI/CD tools (GitLab pipelines)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
