About the Role

The Space Weather Engineer at Digantara will be responsible for developing, validating, and deploying scalable space weather algorithms and decision-support systems that enable reliable satellite operations, mission planning, and predictive space environment analysis.

This role requires a strong research or industry background in space weather, heliophysics, space physics, or data-driven scientific modeling, with a proven ability to develop computational models, scientific algorithms, and data processing workflows for complex analytical problems.

As a Space Weather Engineer, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate models and processing pipelines into production systems, support the design, testing, deployment, and operational readiness of space weather technologies, and evaluate emerging technologies and research developments within the space weather domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate, and maintain scalable algorithms to quantify the impact of space weather on satellite operations.
  • Process, analyze, and interpret ground-based and space-based space weather datasets.
  • Collaborate with astrodynamics, software, data science, and operations teams to integrate models and processing pipelines into production systems.
  • Support the design, testing, deployment, and operational readiness of space weather technologies and supporting infrastructure.
  • Define qualitative and quantitative requirements for deploying space weather sensing systems to improve prediction capabilities.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and research developments within the space weather domain to drive continuous innovation.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, visualizations, and presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Physics, Space Physics, Astrophysics, Geophysics, Applied Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong research background or practical experience in space weather, solar and heliospheric physics, space physics, orbital mechanics, or scientific data analysis.
  • Experience developing scientific algorithms, computational models, or forecasting techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex scientific datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries including NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
  • Experience with parallel computing techniques and performance optimization.
  • Working knowledge of Linux environments and version control systems such as Git.
  • Exposure to machine learning techniques for space weather prediction, anomaly detection, or scientific modeling.
