About the Role
This Embedded Software Engineer role involves working with embedded systems, Python-based custom automation frameworks, and ARM and Linux-based platforms. You'll be responsible for translating manual test protocols into automated test scripts, setting up test environments, and developing and executing automated test scripts.
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll work on automating test cases for embedded HMI devices, ensuring seamless integration with hardware interfaces and test simulators. You'll also be responsible for logging identified defects using bug-tracking tools and performing detailed debugging and root-cause analysis for failed test cases and automation scripts.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate manual test protocols into automated test scripts using Python-based custom automation frameworks.
- Convert existing manual test protocols into automated test cases using the in-house Hydra Automation Framework.
- Set up and configure test environments involving Arduino boards, HMIs, simulators, and peripheral hardware interfaces.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts leveraging Hydra Tool using its interfaces such as Serial interfaces, CAN interfaces, Touch interfaces, Barcode scanners, Printer interfaces, and Video capture cards.
- Ensure test execution of automated test cases on embedded HMI devices, including seamless integration with hardware interfaces and test simulators.
- Log identified defects using bug-tracking tools (Jira).
- Perform detailed debugging and root-cause analysis for failed test cases and automation scripts.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong ability to understand manual test procedures and convert them into fully automated workflows.
- Knowledge of test design, automation strategies, and test coverage principles.
- Experience developing and executing test protocols for functional testing of embedded devices.
- Proficiency with Python-based automation frameworks (PyTest, or custom Python-based frameworks).
- Usage experience with Arduino boards, embedded simulators, and peripheral interfaces.
- Good understanding of Linux environments and HMI-based systems.
- Good understanding of communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, and RS232 etc) and device interaction.
- Knowledge of test coverage, debugging, and basic troubleshooting hardware/software test issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of Python programming language.
- Experience with test automation tools (PyTest, Hydra Automation Framework).
- Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware development, and debugging.
