About the Role
A Medical Coding Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing medical records to assign accurate codes for billing, insurance claims, and research purposes. This role involves working with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding and compliance with industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include data analysis, code validation, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate codes for billing and insurance claims

- Conduct data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Validate and maintain accurate coding systems and databases
- Document and report coding discrepancies and errors
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes in coding guidelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve coding-related issues
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field (biotechnology, biology, zoology, biochemistry, botany)
- Knowledge of medical coding systems and guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
- Experience with data analysis and statistical software (Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
